Hobby Industries was set up in May 1999 by Thomas Knak as a DIY platfom for his own and friends electronic music and ideas. The name might sound funny, but the idea is that a serious Hobby needs a financial input. The financing came from various DJ jobs. The idea was that when he used other people's music to establish his own name, he could pay back by creating an outlet for some of those people which could later finance new releases and so on. Later on Morr Music has been involved producing, stocking and overall a helping hand.
HI001 was the starting point as Thomas re released his debut "Objects for an ideal home" album on vinyl. The April label who released the CD did not see the point in such a format... They would later regret this. As it became a minor classic within the..
