Labels — OutHere Records

Out Here Records is a Munich-based label run by music journalist and broadcaster Jay Rutledge. He compiled the albums ‘Africa Raps’ and ‘Mzansi Music – Young Urban South Africa’ for the German Trikont label, and then in 2004 started his own record label specialising in urban African sounds. Since then the label has released the compilations ‘Bongo Flava - Swahili Rap from Tanzania’, ‘African Rebel Music - Roots Reggae and Dancehall’, ‘Lagos Stori Plenti – Urban Sounds from Nigeria’, ‘Urban Africa Club’ and the latest one, ‘Black Stars – Ghana’s Hiplife Generation’. Out Here Records have also released the critically acclaimed debut album by Mali’s Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni ba, ‘Segu Blue’.
