Labels — Sub Rosa

Sub Rosa is a record label founded by Frédéric Walheer and Guy Marc Hinant, based in Brussels. Formed at the end of the '80s. Since 2001 the label has been releasing the large-scale project "An Anthology of Noise and Electronic Music".
Sub Rosa also releases archival material related to the avant-garde (Marcel Duchamp, William Burroughs), pioneering electronic music works (Luc Ferrari, Tod Dockstader, François Bayle, Leo Kupper) and rare traditional music (Inuit Anthology, Tibetan and Bhutanese) and new actual music. The record label takes its name, sub rosa, from a Latin expression now abandoned by both French and English speakers. It means "confidentially" or more precisely "between us," i.e. "among friends."
