After marinating in the archive for 30 years, Regis unleashes a spicy batch of hypnotic meat motors hailing from an early crest of his powers.

It’s no real secret that Karl O’Connor dispensed dozens of 12”s in the late ’90s under pseudonyms that are still coming to light. Since 2003, when his energies were more focussed on the BMB duo with Surgeon, he’s really pushed the techno framework into fascinating new shapes. But, like legions of others, we’re all still here for his signature early brand of girder-strength bangers, as spotted »In Plain Sight« here.

The title tune plays to his classic style of white-knuckle tension and kinky canter with a discordant, panic-raising lead and warehouse-ready pound, whilst an early, EBM-tooled zinger, »We Said No«, appears via two unreleased versions: a nastier alt. 1 galvanisation and an August 1996 mix kitted with a rictus hi-hat backbone.

Finally, he dispenses an August 1996 mix of »Backwards Man«, which doesn’t appear on the EP of the same name nor on the »Hard Education 1931« sets, and fully endures on modern floors for its mind-bending, pitching lead and dead slinky, brutalist gait.
