»Monster Movie« is the debut studio album by German rock band Can, originally released in August 1969,

For a long time the Can LPs circulated only as bootlegs. The limited first release of the album was released in August 1969 on the label Music Factory still under the name THE CAN. The second release, with new artwork as we know it today, was on Liberty Records the following year. The album was recorded at Nörvenich Castle with CAN's first singer Malcolm Mooney. The band's album debut combined elements of a wide variety of styles from psychedelic rock, blues, fairy jazz and world music. The use of improvisation, editing and layering of disparate sounds set the standard for all subsequent Can albums!
